Patient Support Groups

You’re Not Alone

We all face struggles in our life. Whether it’s an ongoing fear, a chronic illness or a sudden death in the family, we want to assist you through troubled times. That’s why we provide a space for you to talk with others who have similar experiences. Valley Baptist’s support groups are designed to give you a place to share your experiences and learn from others in an open, caring and helpful environment. Below are just a few of the support groups available to you at Valley Baptist:

Bereavement Support Group

This support group meets the  first Tuesday of odd numbered months (Jan-Mar-May-June-Sept-Nov) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Boggus Education Pavilion, Room 5, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.

HOPE Stroke Support Group

The HOPE Stroke Support group is held the third Tuesday of every  month at 6 p.m. in the Woodward Conference Center at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.  Stroke survivors, family member s and community members are welcome.  For more information, contact Stroke Coordinator Erlinda Abantao at [email protected]

Diabetes Support Group, Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen

This group meets the first Thursday of every month, September through May, unless falls on a major holiday.

Diabetes Support Group, Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville

This group meets the last Thursday of every month from 5:30 p.m to 6:30  in the Surgical and Medical Weight Loss office.

Lupus Support Group

The Lupus Support Group meets the second Tuesday of every month in the Woodward Conference Center at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. All are welcome.

Bariatric Support Group, Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen

The “New Beginnings” Support Group meets the third Tuesday of every month, 6 p.m. at the Boggus Education Pavilion

The “2+ Years” Support Group meets the fourth Tuesday of every month, 5:30 p.m. at the Surgical and Medical Weight Loss Center.

Bariatric Support Group, Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville

This group meets the second Tuesday of every month in the Surgical and Medical Weight Loss Program at Valley Baptist Brownsville at 5 p.m.
