At Valley Baptist Health System, we know the importance of prenatal care, especially during high-risk pregnancies. That’s why our maternal fetal medicine (MFM) physicians focus on the diagnosis and treatment of women who are at high risk for problems during pregnancy, developing the best plan to keep you and your baby healthy until your delivery.
Our Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic provides exceptional, personalized care to address any complications of pregnancy, including:
Gestational diabetes (GDM)
Pregestational diabetes (Type I and II)
Chronic hypertension (CHTN)
We will work closely with your obstetric provider to coordinate prenatal care along with specialized testing and procedures using advanced technology and standards of care to help ensure the best possible outcome. We are honored to be able to participate in the care of you and your baby.
Helping Lower the Risk of High-Risk Pregnancies
Various factors can increase your risk of complications before, during and after pregnancy:
Underlying conditions, such as diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition, high blood pressure or others
Having a prior C-section, low-birth-weight or preterm baby
Carrying two or more children at once
Becoming pregnant at age 35 and older
Lifestyle choices, such as drug consumption (including cigarettes and alcohol)
Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)
Additionally, should your baby need extra care after birth, we’re proud to offer Level III Neonatal ICU care at both Brownsville and Harlingen, giving your baby access to around the clock care by trained neonatal specialists. Learn about our NICU
