Alejandro Candil, MD

Dr. Alejandro Candil is double board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, with experience in minimally invasive procedures, trauma surgery, and critical care. Using the latest technology, he treats conditions such as trauma injuries, abdominal hernias, and gallbladder and colorectal diseases. Dedicated to patient care, Dr. Candil approaches each case with compassion and encourages patients to ask questions and be involved in the decision-making process for their treatment plans, thereby improving understanding and outcomes. He has been recognized for his leadership with honors that include induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and as Surgical ICU Director at Valley Baptist Medical Center–Harlingen, where he established and leads the hospital’s surgical ICU. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with family, playing sports, and participating in community programs that support those in need.
