Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen has been treating pediatric patients since opening in 1925, and the having the only hospital based, dedicated pediatric ER is an example of our continued dedication to our youngest patients.
This 12-bed unit, located next to the Valley Baptist Emergency Room, was developed specifically with pediatric patients and their families in mind. We provide emergency care in a non-threatening environment to help keep both children and parents calm during their visit.
Featuring a separate waiting room and dedicated staff, this ER is designed so that our littlest patients can be seen quickly and comfortably. Each exam room has a television to help keep your child entertained, as well internet access. Rooms also have monitors connected to the dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room nursing station.
Our Pediatric ER team treats a wide range of medical concerns, such as:
Respiratory problems such as colds, flu, croup, and others
Gastrointestinal issues such as gastroenteritis
Trauma, such as sprains and broken bones
Chronic illnesses, such as asthma
The Pediatric Emergency Room is connected to the Valley Baptist Advanced Level III Trauma Center, should additional services be required.
If your child needs to be admitted to the hospital, Valley Baptist is ready. Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen has the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Care Unit in Harlingen, and the only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Cameron and Willacy County.
