Valley Health Care Network is offering another value-added service to our members. On site individual and personalized consultation and compliance education is now available to our medical office practices.

“I have been practicing this way for years and nothing has ever happened” is the attitude of many practitioners; however this is no longer acceptable and changes are becoming mandatory. With the increasing need for medical offices to demonstrate compliance with state and national standards related to OSHA, HIPAA, OIG, Billing & Reimbursements, Employee Issues and the need to satisfy their insurance providers, there has become an increasing demand for both large and small practices to develop some type of compliance program. Compliance is far too important to ignore and compromise your practice. These state and federal standards are not voluntary, they are the law.

Many medical practices are hiring healthcare consultants to assist with developing a compliance program to assist with maintaining mandatory compliance. Medical practices that are found to be non-compliant can result in exclusion from governmental programs (such as Medicare and Medicaid), cancelled insurance carriers and even tens of thousands of dollars in fines. Repeated or serious deficiencies can result in shut down of practice.

Services Offered by VHCN Compliance Program

1. Personal and individualized in-office consultation
2. Walk-through office site survey (approximately 2 hours)
3. Staff education and training (OSHA, HIPAA)
4. Development of a “Plan of Action” related to actual findings, which will include:

a. Assessment of deficiencies and needs
b. Planning (development of an action plan)
c. Implementation of plan(s)
d. Re-assessment and evaluation process

5. Development of personal and individualized office manuals such as:

a. OSHA Manual
b. HIPAA Manual
c. Policy and Procedure Manual
d. Employee Handbook/Manual
e. OIG Handbook
f. MSDS Forms

6. Cost of services will vary depending on the services requested. VHCN members will qualify for a 20% discount.
