Reflection of the Month - February 2006

All through her life Mrs. Jones grew up as a committed lady to most women solidarity activities in a small farming Community. At the age of 70, she died. When her WILL was read by her son, the family and her friends were alarmed by her request that she should be buried with a fork in her hand. The people around looked at each other with dismay and wonder until her aged husband stood up and explained his wife’s surprising request. ``Maria went to almost every pot luck we held at Church,” he said. ``She told me she learned a very valuable spiritual lesson from them. She said that after everyone had finished the main meal course, they were told to throw away their paper plates, but were to hold onto their FORKS for the final dessert because the best was yet to come.”

Let us all hold high our meal forks in expectation for both the earthly and the heavenly final banquets that await those who have devoted themselves to selfless hard work.

Let us pray: Almighty God and Father, You are always the Provider for hard workers. As You rewarded kings David and his son Solomon with wisdom and prosperity for building Your Temple, look kindly upon the work force of the Valley Baptist Health System. Provide them with the durable Forks for the plentiful feasts of future life-support so that they may with one voice sing your Alleluia both now and forever. Amen.

I wish everyone God’s blessings and protection.
