Sleep Studies
What is a Sleep Study?

Polysomnogram is the technical term for a sleep study. The diagnostic evaluation requires up to two overnight visits depending on the disorder. The procedure is completely painless and is performed while the patient sleeps in a private room. Up to 16 parameters of physiologic information are recorded and monitored by a sleep technician in an adjoining central control area.

Depending on the disorder, the minimum parameters we monitor include:

  1. Sleep staging

  2. Eye movements

  3. Chin (EMG) excursion

  4. Body position

  5. Snoring

  6. EKG

  7. Leg (EMG)

  8. Nasal/Oral airflow

  9. Thorax excursion

  10. Abdominal excursion

  11. Oxygen saturation

  12. Cpap pressure

  13. Body Position
