The types of health care that a women needs will vary throughout her life, and Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville offers a wide variety of services to meet these needs.  From education and wellness to laser surgery, we’re committed to providing you with the preventive, diagnostic and interventional strategies to help you stay healthy.   

In 2006 Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville will consolidate more of its services for women in the Women’s Center, located by the Emergency Department at the Jefferson Street entrance.  A new digital mammography unit will be located adjacent to a comfortable lobby right by the Women’s Center entrance for easy access and convenience.  A Women’s Resource Corner will offer a wide range of information on a variety of health concerns, from pregnancy to menopause, heart disease, breast cancer and more.

Our Women’s Center

Our three floor Women’s Center was first opened in 1997 with the last floor added in 1999.  It has its own dedicated entrance for more convenience.  The lobby and registration are located on the groundfloor – an area that will soon become the new Women’s Resource Center.  The second floor is dedicated to a 36 bed postpartum unit, 34 bed normal newborn nursery, and 34 bed level II neonatal intensive care unit.  Finally, on the third floor you will find three dedicated Women’s operating room suites, and a 14 bed labor delivery and recovery unit. 

General Health and Wellness Services

Education, prevention and early intervention are important components to good health.  For this reason, Valley Baptist Medical Center offers many diagnostic support services.

• Diagnostic testing - Mammography, EKG, General and Specialized Imaging, Laboratory Testing, Ultrasound
   
• Obstetric services, including birthing suites and rooming in
   
• Inpatient and outpatient surgical services, including laser and laparoscopic, minimally invasive and surgery
   
• Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery

At Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, We are proud and privileged to be with you during the first hours and days of your child's life. The obstetricians on our medical staff who care for your during your pregnancy together with our comprehensive prenatal education course can help you get ready for that important birthday. While the birth of a baby is usually a happy, healthy event, in those special cases when there may be more medical challenges, Valley Baptist can offer peace of mind.  Your can count on in house neonatology services and level II neonatal intensive care unit should a more advanced level of care be required.
