Community Reference Laboratory (CRL)

In addition to the main hospital laboratory, Valley Baptist also operates a Community Reference Laboratory, a full service reference laboratory for physician offices, hospitals, clinics, and local reference labs. In Brownsville, the station is located in the Valley Baptist Medical Center- Brownsville Professional Building, Suite 320. In Harlingen, we have patient service stations at the Heart Corner, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Lindbergh Plaza-McAllen, Valley Baptist OP, and in the Valley Baptist-Harlingen Medical Arts Pavilion.

We provide courier service, electronic results, and phlebotomy service to our clients. Our advantage over national reference laboratories is that we are a local laboratory, performing over 90% of the tests in one of our local laboratories. Often the integrity of the specimen is compromised in shipping and handling, potentially causing erroneous results. At Valley Baptist, most of the specimens are analyzed in Health System laboratories, thus avoiding these problems.
