Intensive Care Units Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville
has a total of three intensive care units. A multidisciplinary
approach by a specialized, highly trained team is used in all
three areas:
Surgical Intensive Care (SICU)
A 12-bed unit serves surgical patients with acute conditions
that require critical care monitoring.
Medical Intensive Care (MICU)
This 12-bed unit serves medical patients, such as those who
have suffered a heart attack or stroke.
Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)
This level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has 34 beds,
divided between the critical and step-down, or intermediate
care, areas.
Visiting hours in all three Intensive Care Units are from
8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., but all
units are flexible in order to best meet the needs of patients
and family. Occasionally, visiting hours may be restricted, due
to special patient or physician needs, or because of critical
care activities in the unit.
