The program utilizes the Gatekeeper process. The beneficiary/patient must see their Gatekeeper Primary Care Physician for their healthcare needs and the Gatekeeper must make a written referral to Specialists, Hospitals, Labs, Radiology centers, and all other specialty services that may be needed for the patient. If there is no written referral from the Gatekeeper, the service may not be reimbursed by the program.
