Guest Registration

All patients are encouraged to come in and preregister for any outpatient services, as well as for inpatient admission. That way, when you come to check in, you can get through the admission process much more quickly.


At Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen, guest registration services can be found in the following locations:

  • East Tower Registration: Registration for Pre-Admission, Day Surgery, Outpatient Services.
    Hours: Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (The Emergency Room handles registration after hours, on weekends and during holidays.)
  • Women’s Services Registration: Second floor, East Tower, 389-5252
  • South Tower Registration: Registration for direct admissions from a doctor’s office.
    Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (the Women Services clerk will register direct and ER Admits after hours)

At Valley Baptist Medical Center – Brownsville, guest registration services can be found in the following locations:

  • Inpatient Admitting Office: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (956) 698-5406
  • After-Hours Admissions: (5 p.m. - 8 a.m. and weekends) are handled in the Emergency Department, (956) 698-5603, 5604 or 5605. 
  • Centralized Outpatient Registration (COR) Office: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., (956) 698-5412

When you arrive at either facility, please have the following documents and information ready:

  • Current address and phone number
  • Current employer
  • Military identification (for Champus claims)
  • Doctor’s order
  • Insurance card and another form of identification (such as a driver’s license)
  • Signed consent form


Please be prepared to make your co-payment at the time of admission, if required by your insurance company. 


You will be required to sign the “Conditions of Admission” and “Advance Directives” forms at the time of registration.

  • The “Conditions of Admission” form enables us to bill your insurance company directly. You are responsible for any deductible and costs not covered by your insurance, and we may ask that you pay a deposit to cover these costs. Signing this agreement gives your consent for general nursing care, diagnostic testing, and administration of medications as ordered by your physician.
  • The “Advance Directives” information explains your rights under state law to issue directives to your physician and/or Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care. You may execute such directives at any time. There will be other forms requiring your signature depending upon your particular circumstances. If you are unable to sign these forms, your spouse, next of kin or a legal guardian may sign for you.

Patients Bill of Rights

As a Valley Baptist Medical Center patient, you are entitled to considerate and respectful care in a safe and secure environment. We will give you a copy of the Patient’s Bill of Rights upon admission, and are happy to review and explain it to you.

Private Duty Nursing / 24 Hour Sitter

If you or your family member require or request additional nursing care (private duty nurse or sitter), these arrangements must be made by you and/or your family.

Your Room

Valley Baptist Medical Center offers semi-private and private rooms. Private rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do our best to accommodate your needs when you arrive. Patients in the Intensive Care Units or Emergency Department receive priority for transfer; however, we do maintain a private room transfer waiting list, and we will notify you if a room becomes available. Valley Baptist Medical Center is a SMOKE FREE environment for the safety and comfort of our patients and guests. Smoking is not permitted in the hospital or on hospital grounds.

Personal Items

Toiletries, bathrobe, slippers and pajamas/gowns are the only personal items that you need to bring with you. If you have eyeglasses, contact lenses or dentures, please use your own protective containers for these items. Please do not bring small electrical appliances such as televisions and radios. If you happen to lose any items, please let your nurse know.
