Pediatric Care: Pediatric ICU & Neonatal ICU

At Valley Baptist Medical Center, we take great pride in being able to provide the most comprehensive pediatric care in the Rio Grande Valley. That includes taking care of the sickest children and most frail newborns in our Pediatric Intensive Care Units(PICU) at Valley Baptist in Harlingen, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU/NBICU) at both of our hospitals.

Pediatric ICU

Our 14-bed Pediatric ICU is a part of the Matt & Patty Gorges Children’s Center [link to page], and offers the finest in pediatric care from pediatric specialists and other care providers.

Neonatal ICU

Valley Baptist-Brownsville’s NICU is a Level III facility with 34 beds, and can care for babies at the critical, step-down and intermediate care levels.

The NBICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit) at Valley Baptist in Harlingen is also a Level III facility, with 40 beds to serve the tiniest of newborns.

In addition, Valley Baptist provides the services of four neonatologists at each facility, one of whom is onsite at all times, along with a neonatal nurse practitioner.
