Helping Hero of the Quarter
Our Helping Hero of the Quarter not only tends to his patients but also to those who visit them. Because of his care, concern, and compassion, he was able to help a patient’s spouse in his time of need. Our Helping Hero of the Quarter is Juan M. Leyva, Jr.
Recently, while a spouse was visiting his wife on 5ST, he began to have numbness in his left arm and hand. Juan went in to make his rounds with the patient and noticed that the patient’s husband was in some discomfort and began questioning him about how he was feeling. Juan suggested that he go to the ED to have himself checked out but he refused. Juan was persistent and finally convinced him to go to the ED. Juan escorted him to the ED, waited for him, and assured him that all would be well. Juan went a step further and told him that he would keep his wife posted of all developments regarding his care and vice versa. Juan also made sure to tell him that he would personally take his wife in a wheelchair to see him once he was in a room. The husband was then admitted and was diagnosed as having a stroke. The couple spoke very highly of the entire medical center and staff, but Juan left them both in awe because of his care and dedication to his profession and fellow man.
Congratulations, Juan, for being selected our Helping Hero of the Quarter. Truly, helping your fellow man is at the core of your beliefs and your profession.
