The Children’s Center at Valley Baptist is the first and only specialty inpatient pediatric facility of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley.

Conveniently located in the center of the Rio Grande Valley at Valley Baptist Medical Center, the 42,000 square foot state-of-the-art center features 48 private rooms and 14 pediatric intensive care rooms, as well as greater access to expanded pediatric specialty care.

The Children’s Center was designed to help the child feel at home in a special place. The rooms and nursing stations are specially “sized” to make our young ones feel more comfortable. Colorful decorations, exam tables in the shape of hippos, and nursing stations in train, castle, and Noah’s Arc themes provide a welcoming environment. And because we know that the healing process is hindered by stress, a child life specialist coordinates playtime, learning activities, and education for the children and parents on a regular basis.

The patient rooms, designated as “Pain-Free Zones” where no procedures are performed, are roomy and large enough for a parent to stay in the room with the child, helping the child feel comfortable and safe. A state-of-the-art security system will enhance that feeling of safety for the parents.
