Adopt-A-Family
VB Employees & Volunteers Deliver GiftsValley Baptist Health System employees and Valley Baptist Foundation Board Members have provided Christmas gifts and turkey dinners to 34 needy Valley families.   This generosity by our board members and employees from various Valley Baptist departments, located in both the Harlingen and Brownsville Hospitals, helped to make the holidays brighter for more than 20 terminally-ill patients and their families served by the Sandi Jo Funk Hospice Program, as well as for patients and families of Valley Baptist Home Health.  Employees’ and board members’ contributions included presents for children, gift cards, and turkey dinners. Hospice and Home Health employees and volunteers delivered the gifts.

In addition to the generosity shown by VBHS employees, others in the community contributed to the annual effort to make the holidays brighter for terminally-ill patients and needy families.  For example, Frank Puente Jr., a local roofer, donated the materials and labor to repair the roof on the home of a needy Harlingen family.  For more information on the Adopt-A-Family project, please contact Judy Quisenberry in the Valley Baptist Foundation at 389-1614.

This project is an annual way that all employees can participate in assisting a family in need for Christmas.  This year we helped 34 families (30 of them were Valley Baptist Home Health and Hospice families) have a much merrier Christmas.  38 departments were involved in giving to these families and the Foundation Board of Directors adopted a family also.  The Foundation Board, led by Becky Ballenger, donated $1500 to help their family.  The total amount that was raised and given to these families equaled $8093.35.   Hospice and Home Health volunteers delivered gifts and turkey dinners to each family.
