Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
The 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta hosted by the Foundation Circle is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Puesta del Sol in Harlingen. Everyone who attends the fiesta will be welcomed by strolling Mariachis, taste a unique style of Mexican food prepared by the chefs of the Magnolia Grille, be entertained by the UTB Ballet Folklorico Tizatlan directed by Dr. Zelma Mata and then dance under the stars to the music from the Agency.
Not only will this be a fun affair, more importantly, this Fiesta will benefit the new Pediatric Emergency Department to be located at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. We are extremely proud of the child friendly environment we currently have at our Matt and Patty Gorges Children’s Center and we plan to extend those same qualities to our new Pediatric Emergency Department. Currently, our Emergency Department serves adults as well as children. Creating a department that is completely devoted to the pediatric population will help children and their parents’ better cope with their traumatic experiences. We will also employ physicians and nurses who are specially trained to treat these little ones.
The Foundation Circle is an organization whose mission is to create health care awareness and promote excellence in health care delivery in the community, and otherwise assist the Valley Baptist Foundation in carrying out its mission. The mission of the Valley Baptist Foundation exists to assure philanthropic support for state-of-the-art technology and facilities, advanced health care services, community programs and medical education offered at our hospitals.
