Purpose of the Vocational Nursing Program
The purpose of the Vocational Nursing Program is
accomplished through a process of transition from the simple to the
complex in both theory and clinical learning opportunities. The
program incorporates the following goals:
1. To provide knowledge and experience, through theoretical
and clinical components, that will prepare graduates for the
National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses
(NCLEX-PN).
2. To provide learning opportunities that will allow the
individual to be a safe and competent practitioner, capable of
meeting the basic needs of a client (patient), acutely or
chronically ill, with predicable health outcomes in a structured
health care setting.
3. To provide a learning environment in which the student
can grow professionally and personally.
4. To cultivate an ability to work harmoniously with other
members of the health care team to meet the holistic needs of the
client.
