The key to all we do at Valley Baptist is people. It is the employees, physicians and volunteers that are at the heart of healthcare at Valley Baptist-Brownsville, and this past year they have continued to be recognized for their work. In 2007, 2008 and 2009, the staff at Valley Baptist was recognized by the American Heart Association with the Triple Crown Award for the treatment of congestive heart failure, heart attack and stroke. Because 2009 was our third year to win this prestigious honor, we received the Gold Award.
If the key to all we do is our staff, the “why” to all we do are our patients. Our goals are to continually “raise the bar” and provide more services, better services, and increased patient satisfaction.
We continue to add new services and technology. In March of 2008, in conjunction with a group of physicians, we opened the new North Brownsville Ambulatory Surgery Center. This is the first and only ambulatory surgery center in Brownsville, and offers access and convenience on the north side of town. The center is located at the North Brownsville Medical Plaza, which also offers outpatient physical therapy services, a laboratory, and physician offices. A new imaging center will open there in early 2009.
We purchased a new 16-slice CT to add to the wide variety of technology offered in our imaging department, redesigned our cafeteria (now called the Parrot Café), and continued to renovate our current facilities. In May, we began our surgical suite renovation and expansion, which will be completed in 2009, and will offer more and larger suites.
