Hands On Ministry
Training
to be offered at
Valley Baptist
HARLINGEN – The
Pastoral Services Department of Valley Baptist Health System will offer
training opportunities for pastors and lay leaders interested in
improving their pastoral ministry and visitation skills. “Hands on
Ministry” is a 7-week program meeting taught by Valley Baptist chaplains
two evenings per week, for three hours each day.
The program covers
topics such as “What Are We Doing Here?,” “Learning to Listen,” “Stages
of Grief,” “Human Beings – Being Human,” “Ministering With
Terminally-Ill Persons,” “Red Flags in the Helping Process,” “Please
Understand Me! DISC Personality Inventory,” and more.
An English-speaking class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6:30
p.m. to 9:30 p.m., beginning January 23 and going through March 8. The classes will
be held at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen in Classroom 3 of the Boggus Education Pavilion.
A certificate of
participation will be awarded from the Baptist General Convention of
Texas for those completing the course. Requirements for the course are a
letter of recommendation from your pastor or priest and a $25
