Groundbreaking Held in Brownsville for Solara Hospital
BROWNSVILLE, March 21, 2006 – Solara Healthcare, a
Dallas/Fort Worth based long-term acute care hospital company, Valley
Baptist Health System and local community physicians broke ground for
Solara Hospital Brownsville on March 20, 2006. Construction will begin
immediately.

Solara Hospital Brownsville is a 41-bed hospital (with a 6-bed ICU)
serving Brownsville and surrounding communities. Patients will be
accepted for admission to the hospital beginning in the winter of
2006-07.
Solara Hospital Brownsville will be located at 333 Lorenaly Drive,
just east of Expressway 77 in north Brownsville. Solara Healthcare
officials estimate the new hospital will create 120 new jobs and
contribute an estimated $10 million each year to the Brownsville
economy.
Solara Healthcare’s CEO Ken Ross stated, “We are pleased with the
opportunity to partner with community physicians and local hospitals to
bring extended hospitalization services to the Brownsville community.”
James Springfield, CEO of Valley Baptist Health System, said, “Our new
hospital, in partnership with physicians and Solara Healthcare will
provide a service previously unavailable in Brownsville. The new
hospital continues Valley Baptist’s goal of expanding services to better
serve the community.”
Solara currently operates hospitals in McAllen, Texas; New Orleans,
Louisiana; and Shawnee, Oklahoma; and has several hospitals in
development in Texas and Oklahoma. For
