Valley Baptist Home Health Opens in Brownsville
BROWNSVILLE, Jan. 30, 2006 – Valley Baptist Health
System announces the grand opening of Valley Baptist Home Health in
Brownsville. In celebration of this event, on January 30, 2006, the
Brownsville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon
cutting ceremony at the home health agency’s new location, 1040 W.
Jefferson, Suite 330, located on the third floor of the Professional
Tower at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.

Although the location is new, Valley Baptist Home Health has been
providing skilled nursing services to Valley patients in their homes for
over 18 years. These services include nursing care through registered
nurses and licensed vocational nurses; physical, occupational and speech
therapy; IV home infusion therapy; home health aides and social
services.
The new Home Health office in Brownsville is another example of
Valley Baptist's commitment to its strategic initiatives of providing
relentless service, service expansion and regionalization, and
integration of health care services for Valley patients.
Valley Baptist Home Health provides compassionate, first-class
nursing care in the comfort of patients' own homes in Cameron, Willacy
and Hidalgo counties. The new office in Brownsville will
allow Valley Baptist Home Health to more efficiently serve the needs of
patients in the Lower Valley area.
“As the only hospital-affiliated home health agency in the Valley, we
are very excited that we now have a home base in Brownsville,” added
Diana Shefts, RN, BSN, MHA, Director for Valley Baptist Home Health and
Sandi Jo Funk Hospice. “Having nurses and a support staff who are housed
in Brownsville will allow us to better serve our Brownsville residents,
physicians and the community.”
Valley Baptist Medical Center–Brownsville is a 243-bed community
hospital which provides a broad range of quality medical and health care
services to the Lower Valley. The hospital, located on Central Blvd. at
Jefferson Street in Brownsville, places an emphasis on quality care;
preventive health care; and customer service. The hospital traces its
beginnings to 1923, when it was founded by the Sisters of Mercy. The
hospital became part of the Valley Baptist system in 2004.
Valley Baptist Home Health is a not-for-profit agency that accepts
Medicare, Medicaid, private pay and private insurance.
