Valley Baptist Home Health Opens in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Jan. 30, 2006  – Valley Baptist Health System announces the grand opening of Valley Baptist Home Health in Brownsville. In celebration of this event, on January 30, 2006, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the home health agency’s new location, 1040 W. Jefferson, Suite 330, located on the third floor of the Professional Tower at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.

Although the location is new, Valley Baptist Home Health has been providing skilled nursing services to Valley patients in their homes for over 18 years. These services include nursing care through registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses; physical, occupational and speech therapy; IV home infusion therapy; home health aides and social services.

The new Home Health office in Brownsville is another example of Valley Baptist's commitment to its strategic initiatives of providing relentless service, service expansion and regionalization, and integration of health care services for Valley patients.

Valley Baptist Home Health provides compassionate, first-class nursing care in the comfort of patients' own homes in Cameron, Willacy and Hidalgo counties.   The new office in Brownsville will allow Valley Baptist Home Health to more efficiently serve the needs of patients in the Lower Valley area.

“As the only hospital-affiliated home health agency in the Valley, we are very excited that we now have a home base in Brownsville,” added Diana Shefts, RN, BSN, MHA, Director for Valley Baptist Home Health and Sandi Jo Funk Hospice. “Having nurses and a support staff who are housed in Brownsville will allow us to better serve our Brownsville residents, physicians and the community.”

Valley Baptist Medical Center–Brownsville is a 243-bed community hospital which provides a broad range of quality medical and health care services to the Lower Valley. The hospital, located on Central Blvd. at Jefferson Street in Brownsville, places an emphasis on quality care; preventive health care; and customer service.
