Do You Know a Helping Hero?

Valley Baptist Employees Serve Patients, Families
During Difficult Times

“Did you know … you’re my hero!” And did you know that Valley Baptist Health System has many “Helping Heroes” in its ranks! Valley Baptist’s “Helping Heroes” program recognizes our staff members who have “gone above and beyond” the call of duty in serving our patients and visitors – often in their most difficult moments.

Valley Baptist believes it is important to recognize employees who go the extra mile in serving you and your family. Our “Helping Hero of the Quarter” receives a bundle of prizes – including a $100 cash award, a reserved parking space, a “Helping Hero” polo shirt, a balloon bouquet presented by our CEO and our “Ambassadors of Service” group, and additional recognition in their respective department of the health system. Our goal is to recognize, thank and encourage these employees who provide extraordinary customer service for you, our valued customer!

If you have been recently helped by a Valley Baptist employee who excelled in serving you, consider nominating him or her as a Helping Hero! You can nominate an employee on-line by clicking here.

And now for a look at some of our recent Helping Heroes !!

James Michael Martinez of the Valley Baptist Security Dept. was named Helping Hero of the Quarter at Valley Baptist-Harlingen for May 2005.  Presenting Robert with a balloon bouquet and other prizes are members of Valley Baptist- Harlingen's Ambassadors of Service, as well as Shane Spees, CEO for Valley Baptist-Harlingen and Jim Isom, Security Director. Mr. Martinez is credited with helping save a baby’s life when he noticed the baby, who was being brought into the Emergency Dept. by his mother, didn’t look well. Mr. Martinez promptly informed the Emergency Dept. triage nurse. The nurse had been busy assisting another patient but promptly started advanced cardiac life support procedures on the baby. The baby was successfully treated in Valley Baptist's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. “Thank you Mr. Martinez for your quick assessment and actions,” the nurse said.
