Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does Human Resources need to call EAP to make an appointment for me?
NO. You may call us directly, without anyone knowing that you’re visiting!

If I bump into my EAP Professional in public, do I need to speak to him/her?
NO. It is up to you whether or not you choose to greet or have a conversation with your EAP Professional while out in public. It is your decision. We'll follow your lead!

Your EAP is housed in a big organization. Who has access to my records? Does your computer department have access to them?
No. Our notes are kept in a special computer program which is accessible solely to your EAP Professional; and by NO ONE ELSE.

If my work supervisor refers me to EAP to handle work performance improvement, does the supervisor know the content of our sessions?
Only if you want them to!!! In such a case, you will need to sign a "release" stating that you want your supervisor to know that you've followed his/her recommendation, and what dates you've attended

If I get a therapist with whom I'm not happy, or don't like going to EAP, am I locked-in to anything?
No. You're not locked into anyone or anything. EAP is voluntary! You can't lose, and only stand to gain, by trying us! You can always ask to see another therapist at anytime.

Will people around your office see that I'm going for emotional help?
WE see Employee Assistance as a Think Tank, that not only provides counseling services, but acts as a supportive consultation, problem-solving & brainstorming service for Personal and Work issues. Your EAP session is always held in private. If you'd want someone to know why you're visiting EAP you'd have to tell them!
